Spica Technologies has seen a lot of change over this year, globally and locally. As a business and team, we’ve grown and adapted to the current working landscape. While we are all ready to show 2020 the door and look to the future, we should acknowledge how we’ve adapted to the challenges of this past year.
2020 was a big year for us in terms of Product development, we expanded our team, rebranded our solution and continued developing and expanding both our GemEx platform and Luna experience app. We added in a number of new features that are really helping deliver value for our customers, some of these in response to how the workplace is changing following the coronavirus pandemic,
The new features our team delivered this year include a new and improved user interface with improved used experience in both a light and dark mode. We added COVID specific safety displays with live occupancy information in washrooms for building users, this allows staff to avoid congested areas and lowers the risk of transmission.
In Luna we added new modules allowing users to book any kind of resource, from desks to lockers, allowing employees to reserve the resources they need and facilities staff to effectively manage their experience. As well as access location-aware content of news, facilities and events, this multi-lingual content module has been exceptionally helpful in the global locations where Luna has and will be deployed.
We introduced a new taxonomy feature, providing a powerful way of contextualising, configuring and analysing your digital twin. This tool has gone on to help improve other solutions within GemEx and Luna especially in regards to Desk Booking and creating ‘office neighbourhoods’. We also expanded our pre-built integrations to both hardware and software vendors. Luna’s integration with Office 365 has given a seamless user experience for app users who can see meetings, desks and assets booked in their Outlook calendar.
Like everyone, we’re really looking forward to a fresh year and are enthusiastic for what 2021 might bring. There are some really exciting new features already under development and we’re also focusing on building our customer community.
We were able to deploy our products farther and wider than before. Our successful application for G-Cloud 12 Supplier status was granted allowing public sector organisations to easily procure our products through the Government’s Digital Marketplace. Our SaaS (Software as a Service) workplace experience platform and Luna Digital Workplace app were taken on by more and more innovative companies, successfully deployed for new clients MACE and Zurich at their respective headquarters. Whilst another client, a global Professional Services company used their version of the Luna app to provide a safe staggered return of staff to their office headquarters. Further rollouts of the app are in progress for more than 35 locations worldwide.
All the hard work undertaken has lead to multiple award nominations including Most Adaptable and Most Collaborative PropTech business at the 2020 UKPA Awards as well as PropTech Company of the Year at the 2020 British Council for Offices Next Gen Awards. It was our Smart Cleaning perspective for the GemEx workplace platform that gave Spica a win for Best International Impact in Services at the Servitization Awards. This recognition inspires us to keep working harder to deliver workplace software that will benefit the global workforce into 2021 and beyond.
We’ll see you next year for more exciting developments and a brighter future for all.
